amazes me how we can all, sort of, back into an opportunity. Mine always happen when I
least expect them but always lead to a positive outcome. For the past 4 months I've been
working on something unrelated to the internet all together, but still in the realm of the
wholesale business. Well not totally but you'll see what I mean in a minute. I had sold an old forklift on eBay a few months back. I ran it on a standard 7 day auction ( I always run my stuff on 7 days) and at the end of the auction that thing brought $5,700 dollars and some odd change. Funny thing was that I never even bought it or owned it! I was riding down the road one morning, taking my kids to daycare when I noticed an old forklift for sale. I stopped and got the number and called the guy. He had $4,500 on his sign but when I talked with him, he said he'd take $3,200. I told him I may have a sale for it but would need about a week and would need to take a few pictures. He had no problems with my proposal so I hurried on over the next day, took about 20 digital pictures and got to work that afternoon getting my eBay listing worked up and listed. To make a long story short...when all was said and done, it sold to a really funny little oriental man from Texas. He sent me a cashier's check for just over $5,700.00. I cashed it, paid the owner his $3,200 and I ended up with just under $2,500 profit. I had to buy some oil and filters for the lift as well as a few other odds and ends. Not bad for about a total of 10 hours work eh? The best part is this has nothing to do with the point of my email!! It gets even better. You'll see how it affects you in a minute. It turns out the man from Texas who bought the forklift, actually exports all sorts of machines and equipment overseas. He started telling me how it all works and that he had some machines up and down the east coast that he could buy. Problem was, he needed someone near enough with a facility to receive, handle and load them in shipping containers. What he was doing sounded like work but lucrative so I offered to try it at my warehouse. So...many hours and just over 4 months later and I've loaded some huge machines and equipment worth thousands of dollars for him in about 12 different shipping containers. All of which are loaded on those huge ships and taken over seas. I've made some pretty good money doing this for him but I started thinking what a deal HE has going! He sits in his little office, gets contracts from overseas buyers and sends them the stuff they want. We'll, not actually. He has people like me doing all the dirty work for him and I have no idea how much money he's making off this but judging by how quickly he would pay me when billed, he's making a small fortune and he's not even touching the product! He has slowed down since the first of this month which means my work for him has slowed down...but my old noggin hasn't slowed down! Now I've been thinking how much potential there could be in the import/export business. Well, I have always been interested in it but didn't know enough about the basics to follow up. Since talking with him though...I've gotten a pretty good handle on it which led me to some research and a couple of light bulbs came on. This is where you come in :-) Lately, I've gotten more and more complaints from people about the problems with trying to make the wholesale, drop ship business work. They either can't find any true leads for products or don't have the money to put up to commit to buying products in bulk. Hey...alot of us work on tight budgets! Well, a new possibility for you could be getting into an import/export business! From what I've learned, there is more "brokering" going on than anything and in most cases...you are already paid by a buyer before you find them the product. Hey...I know because this is how my guy in Texas was working it all and remember that I was the one handling all the grunt work for him! All he was doing was making phone calls, lining up the supply and buyer, getting his money and then dispersing out a small percentage to people like me for handling it all for him! Lock, stock and barrel! I could explain the basics behind it to you, like I did here but there are alot of details I've not covered so I tried to find a way to give you a chance to really dig into it and explore the options of this for yourself. This type of business has been around for years...BUT it has not been exploited online like wholesale, drop shipping, selling on eBay etc. All that stuff has been beat to death. The import/export business hasn't and will always be in demand! Look at all the new trade agreements going on overseas. Right now the US is exporting and importing goods in more volume than ever before and there HAS to be someone to handle it or broker everything. What I did was dug around trying to find some place that could "educate" me in more depth about this business. I found a few sites and "white papers" that were not too impressive and didn't excite me. I finally found one that, to me was worth buying to get a good look at. I have to say that I dug into it and I would rate this guy's site 8.5 out of 10 stars! So....if you're fed up with fighting all the other online fish for your small place in the worn out areas of wholesale, drop shipping...this may be the break you're looking for! The funny thing is had I not put that old forklift on eBay, I wouldn't have met this guy and may never had gotten the import/export bug and been able to share my idea with you here! Aren't you glad you've stayed on my list all this time! ;-) I found a guy who has a no-nonsense approach to this business and after much investagation on my part, I found him to be very knowledgable about this business. He has a very thorough and detailed approach to explaining everything about both import and export. I was more than impressed with what he had to say and if you want to take a crack at this business...you'll like it to. He offers an ebook that I think has a very fair price. His name is Timothy Smith and the link to his website is below. You'd be very smart to check his site and even get his ebook. Then you can see if you can finally get into a business that has not been saturated and oversold online! Click Here to check out his website.. P.S. Nothing ventured...nothing gained! I've given you a hot tip here on a new business idea but if you don't at least go check it out...nothing will happen at all and you'll never know if it could work for you or not! I acted on a whim riding down the road with that old forklift and look what it brought for me! This is your time to act on a whim and see what it brings you! |
